Dynamic Path Control: The Foundation for Your Hybrid WAN

Case Study

The wide area network (WAN) has not seen much in the way of innovation for the better part of a decade. While the rest of the infrastructure has become more agile and fine-tuned for the cloud and a virtual world, the WAN continues to be subject to the high cost and limitations of MPLS networks and related equipment. Frustration with the rigidity, cost and complexity of today’s MPLS-based WAN is the reason there is an industry movement afoot to allow the WAN to leverage multiple types of connectivity in a secure and optimized way. This movement is often referred to as the Software-Defined WAN (SD-WAN), and when implemented correctly, it will offer the flexibility required for a much more dynamic and responsive environment. The first step in this WAN evolution begins with the ability to deliver path control over multiple connections.
