Consumer Electronics Insights
60% of UK consumers are spending less money in electronics than a year ago. We can focus on three macro behavioural trends to understand this shift away from technology.
First of all, the pandemic played an important part in the rise of this general trend of seeking comfort and ease from tech. Moreover, the rise of the health and cost-of-living crisis has led to consumers preferring tech that improves their lives.
People aged 25-44 are growing more concerned about their phone usage. Half of Gen Zers want to reduce their screen time due to a desire to improve their mental health. Home automation has also grown compared to last year, with more than half of those aged 21-24 wanting to automate their home. These tendencies seem to be connected to the post-pandemic trend of making a better, more productive use of our free time.
