Solid State Drive (SSD)

Definition

An SSD is a storage device containing non-volatile flash memory which retains data without power and has no moving parts. SSDs are often used in place of hard disk drives (HDD) because their read/write speeds are much faster and they are less likely to suffer mechanical failure.
